Tammie PetersI’m a mom and a tech worker, but I feel like I don’t belong in either world. I love my kids and my job, but I struggle to balance them both. I feel guilty when I have to work late or miss their school events. I feel inadequate when I have to learn new computer skills or use new software at work. I’m afraid to admit that I don’t know how to do something or that I need help. I don’t want to seem incompetent or outdated. I don’t want to lose my job or my respect. I try to hide my frustration and anxiety, but sometimes it gets too much. I snap at my kids or my coworkers, or I cry in the bathroom. I wish I could be more confident and relaxed. I wish I could enjoy learning new things and embrace the challenges. I wish I could be proud of myself and my achievements. But instead, I feel like a fraud and a failure.
